Fantasy Faire

6 Months of the Roawenwood a Fantasy Faire RFL Auction

(Disclaimer: no I can’t count.  I realize that it’s technically 7 months worth of releases lol)

Would you like to win for yourself and one other person (or an alt) a full 6 months worth of new releases from the Roawenwood?  Well……….. guess what?

As part of Fantasy Faire I decided to go big.  This year like I keep going on and on about is my tenth year in SL, along with the Roawenwood also finding itself in the same predicament, so THIS year I’m going a little bit big in all things when I can.

auction Blog

This auction will if won give the winning bidder plus one friend/alt of their choosing new releases from the Roawenwood for a period of six (6) months beginning on the first of June and concluding December 31st 2016. Products defined as new may be store releases, event releases, marketplace releases, or gacha sets. Gacha sets made available as part of the ‘new releases’ for the month if applicable will ONLY be given as no transfer objects to the winning bidder and friend.

Limited edition, one of a kind, or special prizes/product releases (such as the Seed of Inspiration used in the Gacha Garden event) are not applicable to this auction and will not be included in the package. Each month at the END of the month all items for the current month that have been released within it as new products will be packed up and then sent to the winning bidder and friend/alt.  Example; on or around June 30th – July 1st the winners will receive a package for the month of June

The winning bidder is defined as the Second Life avatar account that wins the silent auction during Fantasy Faire 2016.  The friend or alt is defined as the Second Life avatar account that is named by the winning bidder at the conclusion of the silent auction for Fantasy Faire 2016.

Only the winning bidder and the friend/alt Second Life accounts named at the conclusion of the silent auction for Fantasy Faire 2016 will be eligible to receive the monthly new releases packages promised by the store entity known as the Roawenwood.  The auction and prizes cannot be transferred to another Second Life account under any circumstances. The prize package cannot and will not be redeemed for Lindens, or monetary compensation of any sort.

The new releases can cover a broad spectrum of content though generally of the Home and Garden category there can be accessories for avatars, some clothing – generally female, and other miscellaneous items as the creative spark hits.  There are no guarantees or promises on content that may or may not be delivered other than what is outlined here and the winning avatar should be aware of the possibility of adult content being a part of the items created for the Roawenwood.

Packages can be redelivered as needed if necessary

ALL proceeds for this auction benefit RFL (Relay for Life) and the avatar/person known as Searlait Nitschke will receive no monetary compensation of any kind in conjunction with the aforementioned auction.

The notecard in world has some recent releases type pictures and all that you can get at the auction site but if you’re looking at the blog you can see things in older posts.  In general, whatever I come up with is fair game.

Running until April 30th @ 5pm SLT

Starting bid as of this writing is 4500L

Have fun and bid!!! It’s for a good cause!

Roawenwood & Fantasy Faire 2016!

It’s here! One of the biggest events of the year… 14 sims.  This year there is 14 sims, wow huh.  Not all are considered shopping sims, there’s ones for quest, for entertainment, the junction with the teleports and silent auction then of course the shopping/themed sims.

I wasn’t able to build one this year.  Not for lack of drive or wanting to but time.  I just didn’t have it.  I knew that real life was going to basically keep me going in one direction from mid January until just about now before it started to settle down which is essentially when all of the Faire business begins ramping up from choosing the themes for the sims, planning and working on them until opening.

I missed it.  A lot.  More than I thought I would.  I even talked to a few people about it.  I knew it would be hard but didn’t really realize how hard it would be for me to not contribute on that level.  I enjoy so much the creation process, the unmasking, the sharing… even the stress, the sleeplessness of it and all of the hard parts, the anticipation, the nerves. It really is one of the things that makes my SL very much a part of me. That sharing aspect… it is also one of those things I work for in RL as well, RFL has a big impact on me both in SL and out of it.  So as it was drawing closer I grew a bit more thoughtful about it all.

Deep Woods Forest SojournI am sponsoring the Junction sim. Saiyge has done another fabulous job creating the spot where people teleport in and it really is supposed to get better.  Conceptually the sim itself is supposed to change over the course of the Faire.  How it looks now…. and how it will look later are going to be two different things and if I have it right from what I understand from her is that it is going to slowly come to life.

Ambitious, very ambitious to be changing, shifting a sim while the event is on going over the course of a week or so.  She’s really outdone herself in trying to create something that people will enjoy.  I’m quite honored to be allowed to sponsor her sim and thankful for it.

Fantasy Faire is more than just a shopping event.  There are so many of those now.  It is really a gigantic collaboration from a group of people who put a lot of time, thought, love, and creation into each small piece of it. It’s about raising money of course, as much as we can for cancer research and such but it also a gathering. Of people, of survivors, of caretakers.  It is a gathering of people who for the most part throughout my participation through the years shown only the very best of what SL or life has to offer. A lot of people working together, spending time together, playing together and sometimes crying together. It’s much much more than just a shopping event and I hope that everyone who goes gets to see a glimmer of the magic that I see every year, that I am proud to be a part of and that I look forward to sharing every year no matter how many years I am in Second Life.

Now…. now that I’ve talked a bit about the Faire I’ll show some of the things that I have for sale there.  I didn’t get what I wanted to get done, never really do but I have a few things so far.  If I get more time then I’ll make something else perhaps but you know how that goes.  With everything else… time is a very hardly fought for commodity.

The first item I’m going to highlight is a Limited Edition type of thing.  I am not going to sell it after the Faire, and it won’t be available anywhere after the Faire either.  It’s a small offering but it will be something like a one of a kind from my place.Rally Racers - Truck

It’s a small pond type structure with trees on either side of it, I have grasses, butterflies floating and ferns surrounding it along with a mossy ground prim thing that pulls it all together.  Simplistic perhaps but I thought of forest nymphs and satyr’s bathing in the woods… deep in the woods where no one was going to stumble upon them.  Since it’s a PG event there’s no sex animations *laughs* but there are some nice cuddly sorts, there’s some bathing things as a couple.  Massages and stuff, so it is a couples set.  A few animations for single sitting around soaking type things are also included.  Grasses, ferns and the butterflies can be taken away from the scene if you don’t want them.  I included the ferns and grasses in the pack too on their own so you can use them wherever.

It is ONLY going to be sold at the Faire, if you like it… should get it now, and ALL proceeds are going to RFL, I won’t ever see a dime from it personally.  Please buy lots. *laughs*

Rally Racers - Crate CarThe other two items I have up there that are new are just for fun and kind of cute.  Since I equate Fantasy Faire with a lot of playfulness always using it as a time to get cute little avatars like kitties to wear, or flying around like a petite, or being a tiny elephant then it shouldn’t really be a surprise that I end up wanting to play or have fun things.  One thing that is a tradition for some of the Faire folk is a bus ride where we pile on, drive around the sims and generally cause havoc.  Very much a fun time. This year I found these lil cars.  Cute as hell, and made them into bumper cars.  I couldn’t help myself.  It was just too good of an opportunity to pass up.  I can imagine traipsing around the sims running into things but that might not be so nice to do to people. *coughs* But you know…. there’s a sweet little explosion sound when you crash into things or each other… usually, sometimes it doesn’t like to sound and I don’t know why.  Damn thing.  Anyhow…….. it’s fun.  Just pure fun.

Two kinds.  One is a crate car, and the other is a set of pick up trucks.  Old vintage styled.  There’s quite a few colors included in the trucks one, crate one well… only the one style but it’s perfect for it.  Honest. I had a lot of fun with these and made sure to test them out properly, yes I did.

I hope you have as much fun with them as I did, and hope you get them. *nods*

With that I’m going to close this post.

Remember!!! I’m on the Fairelands Junction Sim!!!  There’s only two stores on the whole sim… mine and Saiyge’s.  I’m along one of the walls as you walk around it.

TAXI to the Faire!!!

Open now through May 1st

Fantasy Fair Mementos from Tangleshimmer Grove

·!¦[·   FANTASY FAIRE 2015 MEMENTOS  ·]¦!·

Tangleshimmer Grove Stand Alone Fairy RingEvery year I tend to throw a little something to group members from the Faire.  This year I had a lot of feelings about things as the Faire progressed.  The sims disappeared today, I’m always a bit thoughtful when that happens.  Not quite willing to let it all go yet for the year.

So I’m offering up two pieces of the Faire sim from this year.

BUT, only for in world group members…
Tangleshimmer Grove Hollowed Out Log Jail
The group is going to be closed while they are offered as a free gift to you for the next day or two.

After that they will retreat back into the dreamworlds they come from.  I don’t usually end up selling pieces of the Faire builds, don’t know if I will or if I won’t but for a limited 24-48 hour window you can get them for free at the landing in vendors specially placed.

Pay the 1L which will be refunded.  Just don’t forget to wear your group tag.

I hope you are all having a great week.

Revamp Roawenwood — A Contest — Over 16,000L worth in prizes

It’s the opening of Fantasy Fair today at 9 a.m. SLT!!! April 23rd through the 3rd of May tons of events, awesome sims, and a lot of shopping to benefit RFL.

I have something a little different for you to have some fun with if you’re game. Soooo…. What do you say? Are you?

I have an avatar. Yay me right?  I have an alt. avatar that I use for business purposes named originally enough…. “Roawenwood”.

I never really dressed the avatar. The poor girl is something like 4 and a half years old, has no AO, is wearing an old flexi curly hair style, system layer dress…. No hands, feet, nothing meshy body part wise of any kind. Her skin, well it was a gift from the Peace on Earth hunt, you guessed it, right about when she was made so it’s old…

Needless to say when I’m logged in as this avatar my camera is anywhere but on her. She really does look dreadful. Recently I was working while using the avatar wincing the whole time and got the bright idea of updating her look but the thought of shopping for all the little pieces or for finding what would work made me want to weep.

I’m not much of a shopper, I don’t really shop. Hardly ever unless it might be build related but clothes? Updating outfits? Making up outfits? Looking for skins and all? I’d rather have dental work done.

So while I was working on the mesh in front of me mulling it over feeling resigned that she was just going to always look like this I got another bright idea.

A contest!! Omg! Have YOU guys find all that bs.. I mean…. All that great stuff that I don’t want to bother myself with, or really have the time to. I just don’t have it.

So here’s the deal you guys can help me out immensely so I don’t have to wince while working by dressing up Roawenwood.

I’m going to have two categories for looks and a special category for best picture. And I’m not leaving anyone out… nope. Since “Roawenwood” is not necessarily a male or female name I’m going to open it up to include male looks as well as female.

Curious?  Check out this link to the  Contest Guidelines, Criteria, and Other Important Info!

Until we meet again…

Hovering I look about me the fog having kept its grip upon the Thicket, the muted colors and sounds feeling even a bit more closed in than usual. It’s terribly quiet, the crowds and people for the most part are gone. It feels like you shouldn’t raise your voice and even if you do it feels like the sound might be swallowed whole before it can actually be heard. Today the Thicket truly feels mournful to me, it’s almost like the sim knows that it is coming to its end trying to hold tight to a few final moments.

Soon it will be gone. The months of planning, work, preparing… all the hope that it will be what I had envisioned, putting it all out there. Hoping that people would understand it for more than the dark woods that it was and then rejoicing when I witnessed for myself that it was happening…

I watched people poke around into the different spots. Finding the ravine filled with sharp thorns blocking the way upwards to the gypsy camp. Finding the spots where the roses thrived amongst the jagged rocks. Pausing to breathe in the Thicket’s hidden little areas… The jail, a favorite spot I believe seeing it come up in quite a few pictures and then of course the landing. The camp.

Life really was here. Folks sat around the campfire whiling away the hours together singing, laughing, enjoying the rum that was left near the barrels and crates… dancing, lounging around the wagons. Unicorns bed down in the grass over there and there were horses grazing over there.

What I had hoped for.

What I wanted for the Thicket… it happened.

The whole week long I watched as people lived, breathed, and experienced the fair and I am so grateful and just thrilled that I was able to provide that backdrop. That setting. That little bit of a respite as we travel together.

It really was all I wanted, and I got it.

It’s been a wonderful fair filled with memories.  From the first fair I did 4 years ago as a vendor each fair has precious moments.  This one has been particularly emotional for me. Stories shared from people, bonding with friends more closely than ever, and traveling when I could even though real life and needing some sleep kept me away more than I wanted to be. I didn’t get to share it the way I wanted exactly but I AM the proud owner of the Fairechylde now, the radio flag ship for the fair that has the most awesome fireworks cannons ever. *laughs* I’ve been told by the way I am now obligated to throw parties since I purchased the ship. That little tidbit must have been in the fine print somewhere, I surely didn’t see it but we’ll see. I’m so not good at hosting parties. hahaha

My after fair post isn’t going to be as long as usual. I said a lot in the pre-fair teaser post about the dedication and what I was putting out there. This is more of a thank you and a look around.

Yesterday I got to do the tour, and a repeat today. Each year a bunch of us pile into a bus inviting folks into our madness as we travel from one sim to the other. Laughing, side splitting tear inducing laughter as we fall off of cliffs, spin in circles getting sick to our stomach trying to cross sims, flying through walls, avoiding hitting anyone on the way, dropping to the bottom of the sea or into lava pools as whoever is unlucky enough to win the draw of having to actually drive through these sims is muttering from behind the wheel. You know these sims are REALLY not driver friendly. This year it was Alia, poor guy.

As we worked our way around, pictures snapped for flickr pools and memories there was one that really hit me for some reason.

In so many ways it just felt like the perfect picture to end the fair with…. The group of us riding off into the sunset so to speak after a long lengthy exhausting fair, laughing… living, joking and relaxing trying to make our way upwards to heaven… which I will tell you, we couldn’t ever quite get up those damned stairs without cheating… we kept flying off and landing in the lava pools below. Typical if not a bit fitting.

I really hope you had a good fair experience, this year I am leaving it with a smile and I must be nuts because I’m already looking forward to what we will bring you next year.

Take care everyone and thank you so much for donating, working hard, and just being there.
